Houseplant
Shawl / Scarf

The Houseplant shawl is the cottage-core accessory of your dreams. With soothing garter stitch and a beautiful-yet-simple lace border, this shawl knits up like a charm.

*By purchasing this product you will receive a digital download PDF pattern for the pictured knitted item, not the actual finished item, so that you can knit it up yourself.

This springy shawl is perfect for light seasons with chilly mornings and breezy afternoons. A simple lace leaf repeat keeps you entertained, while garter stitch provides plenty of relaxation. The lace pattern, “scalloped leaves,” is from Nicky Epstein’s wonderful book Knitting on the Edge. The very special yarn featured in this shawl was made by my friend and local shepherd, Theresa. I love how the yarn is fuzzy and rustic-looking but still quite soft. I hope you love knitting this shawl and wearing it to your heart’s content!

Construction Notes
1. Shawl is worked flat from point to point in Garter Stitch, with a lace leaf pattern worked along the longest edge.
2. Gradual increases are worked for the first half of shawl, then gradual decreases are worked for the second half of shawl, creating a slim crescent shape.
